About Katie

Welcome to Outdoors and On the Go!

This is an outdoor adventure blog based in Western Newfoundland written by me, Katie Broadhurst, because I love this place, the freedom to be outdoors and I am passionate about sharing it with the world.

Through Outdoors and On the Go, I hope to inspire and support folks to #getoutside and #ExploreNL by providing first hand information about hiking trails, outdoor gear, personal adventures, tid bits about NL, and much more. I typically post 1-2 times per week and to make sure you don’t miss the newest content, subscribe to get my posts via email!

Brief Bio

I love the outdoors, especially when I can share it with others! I believe that outdoor experiences (in any capacity) are good for the body, the mind and the soul. Guiding and blogging is my way of extending a hand out to those that are looking to get outdoors and on the go!

My foundation of outdoor qualifications comes from Algonquin College’s Outdoor Adventure Tourism Business program [2008 grad]. This program totally set me up for success, as I have been working in the adventure tourism industry seasonally, part time and now full time since graduation.

I moved to Newfoundland in 2009 to work with a local guiding company and fell in love with the island and her people. Now settled, I am always taking short trips to places I haven’t seen yet, and there are so many!

I also do Gear Reviewing for Get Out There Magazine. I am always testing and reviewing gear related to outdoor activities and am finding that Western Newfoundland is an ideal place to put gear through its paces.

Now with the technical skills and local knowledge, it is time to share with you, the Outdoors and On the Go readers!
