Gear Review: Zeal Optics Tramline Goggles

zeal optics tramline

In case you haven't noticed, there's been a new pair of goggles making their debut in my pics recently: Zeal Optics Tramline googles in Night Moves!! My brother, Taylor, needed a new pair of goggles for his ski season here in Western Newfoundland where we get wildly variable winter weather and still keep playing outside. I new right away what he needed: a pair of Zeal Optics goggles with automatic lenses .... obviously!

Fit

At 6'2" Taylor wears large everything, but not goggles! He wanted a clean cut, low profile style and since I have had two pairs of goggles in both large and medium, we decided medium would be the better fit. And the Tramlines fit him perfect!

These goggles fit great with his helmet, and even adjust small enough to wear with no hat when he's working hard, hiking for turns.  Taylor finds them comfortable in all conditions as they are well ventilated for warm days and fit well over his balaclava when it's really cold!

Performance

The short story is - they are amazing!

Taylor has never experienced anything like them before. He has worn them through everything mother nature has thrown at us this winter - blue bird days, night skiing, whiteout conditions and flat, overcast days and he can always see the terrain.

The foam is warm, creating a snug fit yet they never fog. They always stay in place on his helmet because of the no slip grip on the dual strap even during the many failed landings while learning 180's.

With this being his first season skiing every day, Taylor has spent the last month learning to see winter differently. I recall Taylor coming home after his first day wearing the Zeal Optics Tramline goggles, he walked in the door and exclaimed loudly "these googles are $%^#ing insane!" ... I think he liked them!
